The Last Will and Testament of WALTER HEWITT 1842
This is my Last will and testament of me WALTER HEWITT of Rockcliffe Crop in the parish of Rockcliffe in the county of Cumberland ,yeoman.I give and bequeath unto my three daughters,ANN,JANE and and SARAH the sum of ten pounds each and to my daughter in law MARY HEWITT the widow of my deceased Son JOHN HEWITT the sum of fifty pounds to be charged on my estate as hereinafter mentioned and subject thereto.I give and devise all my freehold messuages tenement and lands with the appurtenances situate at Rockcliffe Crop in the county aforesaid unto my daughter in law MARY HEWITT and her heirs upon trust never the less that she do and shall raise as soon as conveniently may be after my decease upon mortgage or other wise upon the security of the said premises the sum of eighty pounds and pay and apply the same in the payment and discharge of the above mentioned legacies hereinafter bequeathed to my said daughters and to the said MARY HEWITT the widow of my said son JOHN HEWITT.and subject to such mortgage and the payment of all my just debts and funeral expences.I give and devise and bequeath all my said ,tenements and lands unto and the sole use of my grandson JOHN HEWITT the only son of my said deceased son his heirs and assignes for ever.Also I give and bequeath unto my said daughter in law MARY HEWITT all my household furniture,stock.crop and personnel property.And I constitute and appoint my said daughter in law MARY HEWITT sole executrix and residuary legatee of this my last will and testament.In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six.WALTER HEWITT Mark and seal.
