RALPH HEWITT 1860

This is the last will and testament of me RALPH HEWITT of Workington in the County of Cumberland,grocer,I give devise and bequeath all my real estate and personal estates and effects whatsoever and whereinsoever to which I shall be entitled either at law or in equity at the time of my death unto my dear wife ANN for and during her natural life if she do long continue my widow,And from and immediately after her decease or marriage againI give devise and bequeath unto and to the use of my son JOHN FISHER HEWITT his heirs executors,administrators and assigns according to the nature thereof respectivly,absolutly for ever.And if my said son shall be under the age of twenty one years at the death or marriage again of my said wife,I hereby authorise the acting executors or executor for the time being of this my last will to apply the rents,profit and annual income of my said estates and effects for and towards the maintainence,education and support of my said son,and also if my said executors or executor shall think it advisable so to do to raise any part or parts of my said personal estate,not exceeding one half thereof,and apply the same for the advancement or benefit of my said son.And I appoint my friendsTHOMAS JACKSON of Seaton Mill in the Parish of Camerton in the said County,MILLIE and MARY HOLLIDAY of Seaton in the said Parish,spinsters.,executors and executrix of this my will.And I also appoint them guardians of my said son after the death or marriage of my said wife if he shall be under the age of twenty one years.And I revoke all former wills by me made,declared this present writing to be my only true last will and testament.

In witness whereof I the said RALPH HEWITT the testator have hereunto set my hand this third day of May ,in the year of our Lord,one thousand eight hundred and fifty two.

On the twenty first day of August 1860,administration with the will annexed of the personal estate and effects of RALPH HEWITT late of Workington in the County of Cumberland,ship broker a grocer deceased was granted to JOHN FISHER HEWITT the son and universal

legatee,substituted in the said will,having being first sworn duly to administer.THOMAS JACKSON,MARY HOLIDAY the executors having renownced.And ANN HEWITT the wife and universal legatee for life or widowhood having died in the lifetime of the testator.
