MARY ELEANOR HEWITT 1853
This is the last will and testament of me MARY ELEANOR HEWITT of Stanwix in the County of Cumberland,spinster,.I give to my nephew GEORGE HENRY HEWITT OLIPHANT the sum of one thousand two hundred pounds,upon trust to lend the same out of interest and to pay the interest there fore as and when the same shall become due unto my sister MARGERET SARAH wife of ROBERT LAWSON during her life free from the debts control and engagements of her husband and so as she may not anticipate the same,her receipt alone not with standing her coverture only to be sufficient discharge for her same,and at the death of my said sister upon trust to divide and pay the said sum of one thousand two hundred pounds unto and equally amongst her six daughters and to be considered as vested interest in them from my death.I give to each of my nephews RICHARD LAWSON and GEORGE HEWITT LAWSON the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid at the end of twelve months after my death.I give to my aunt ELIZABETH STORDY of Beaumont the sum of nineteen guineas.I give to SARAH FURNESS the person with whom I now lodge the sum of nineteen guineas as a mark of my gratitude,for her kindness and attention to me and my late dear.I make the following bequests,my gold watch and hair chains to my niece MARY ELEANOR LAWSON,My silver cup to my nephew GEORGE HENRY HEWITT OLIPHANT,my silver butter boat to my niece JANE DIXON,six tea spoons and sugar tongs to my niece MARY HEWITT OLIPHANT,Two silver salt cellars to my niece SARAH FERGUSON HEWITT OLIPHANT.TWO table spoons and six desert spoons to my niece JANE LAWSON,My other silver butter boat to MARGERET LAWSON.MY silver cream jug to LYDIA LAWSON.My set of coasters to EMMA LAWSON.Two silver salt cellars to JOYCE LAWSON.Two table spoons to RICHARD LAWSON.Six tea spoons to GEORGE HEWITT LAWSON.,my old china to be divided amongst my nephews and neices,my clothes and whatever other articles of furniture,linen,plate I posses I leave to my sister MARGERET SARAH LAWSON.I give the residue of my personal estate after payment of the aforesaid legacies and subject to the payment of my just debts and funeral expense unto and equally between my said nephew GEORGE HENRY HEWITT OLIPHANT and his Sisters ANN DIXON,MARY HEWITT OLIPHANT And SARAH FERGUSON HEWITT OLIPHANT .And I appoint the said GEORGE HENRY HEWITT OLIPHANT sole executor of this my will,In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament contained on this and preceding sheet of paper set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of June ,in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one,

Memorandum: The foregoing writing was signed by the said testator at the foot or end thereof and acknowledged by her to be the last will and testament in the presence of us who were present at the same time and we do hereby attest and subscribe our names as witnesses to the said will in her presence and in the presence of each other accordingly.
