JANE HEWITT 1727
In the name of God ,amen,I JANE HEWITT of Skinburness in the parish of holmeineden?
in the County of Cumberland,widow,being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory ,Thanks be to God for the same,calling to mind ye mortality of my body ye knowing that it is appointed that all ye men die.Do make and ordain this my last will and testament,that is to say in manner and form as following.I give and recommend my soul into ye hands of Almighty God that gave it,for my body I recommend it to ye earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors,nothing doubting but at ye general resurrection shall receive ye same again by the power of Almighty God.
And for my worldly goods and chattels,I give devise and dispose of ye same in manner and form following.
Item; I give and bequeath unto my son BENJAMIN HEWITT ye sum of five pounds now in ROBERT WALMANS hand.
Item; I give and bequeath unto my son BENJAMIN HEWITT all my sacks,pokes bedding of clothes,one chest twas his fathers.one perk?.one chair and two of my best pewter vesels,one cupboard and kettle.
Item;I give and bequeath unto my grandson JOHN DRAPE ye sum of five pounds now in ROBERT WALMANS hands.
Item;I give and bequeath unto my grandson ELIAS DRAPE the sum of two pounds now in the hands of of THOMAS JEFFERSON of akoton?
Item;I give and bequeath unto my grandson MOSES DRAPE twenty shillings.
Item;I give and bequeath unto my grandson RICHARD DRAPE twenty shillings.
Item;I give and bequeath unto my son BENJAMIN HEWITT ye one half of my sheep
Item;Igive and bequeath the other half of ye sheep unto my grand sons,MOSES,ELIAS and RICHARD DRAPE,sons of DANIEL DRAPE of Skinburness to be equally divided amongst them.
Item;I give unto my son in law DANIEL DRAPE whom I likewise constitute and ordain my only sole executor of this my last will and testament,all my singular goods and chattels,money on note or bond or any otherwise owed to me by him freely to be possessed and enjoyed.And I di hereby utterly,disallow,revoke and dismissed all or any forms of testament,wills and legacies,bequests and executrix made by me in any way before this time named wills or bequests,ratifing and comfirmimg this and no other be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 13th day of January 1727
