JOHN HEWITT 1784
In Carlisle August the 18th 1784 on which day appeared personally MARGERET HEWITT and alleged that JOHN HEWITT late of Kirkland in the Parish of Torpenhow in the County of Cumberland,yeoman,deceased died intestate without making a will,so far as she doth know or believe that she is the widow and relic of the said deceased wherefore she prayed letters of administration of all and singular the goods,chattels and creditsof the said deceased to be committed and granted to her the said MARGERET HEWITT on her giving good and sufficient security in her behalf.
The said MARGERET HEWITT was sworn in due form of law to the truth of the promises and to faithfully administer and to exhibit an inventory and so forth when required.

Know all by these present that we MARGERET HEWITT of Caldergate in the County of Cumberland,widow,HENRY ROUTLEGE of Whitehaven in the said County and THOMAS BEVIN of Cockermouth in the said County,gent,are held and firmly bound unto the rights granted to oath in God.EDMUND by divine permission Lord Bishop of Carlisle in the sum of two hundred pounds of Great Britain.
