In the Name of God amen I JAMES HEWITT of Rockcliffe In the County Of Cumberland ? in spite but weak in body but in perfect mind and memory,Praised be to God, [Basically the next piece says- My body to the Earth and my soul to Almighty God for the Remission of my Sins]
Do make my last will and testament in manner and form following,next more about the Lord God and his body to be buried in Rockcliffe Churchyard.
I give To my son WILLIAM my personal effects and my bed.Pledging one pound to my son JAMES,I leave to my son ROBERT one Half Crown.My daughter JENNETT a cow and a heifer and household goods.All the remainder of my goods and chattels I give to my Wife JENNETT and ELIZABETH My Daughter.
