The above is from a contemporary book about Watermillock & Matterdale and has been transcribed exactly with anomolies of spelling etc (viz residence of Woof,T. and Mrs Stamper). Ulcatrow appears on modern maps as Ulcat Row; Leaming as Leeming; Old Church as Oldchurch; Goose Green as Goosegreen; etc.
